Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Parallel mobile applications (“Parallel” — the consumer app — and “Parallel Instructor” — the instructor app, together “the Apps”) collect, use, and share information about you. The Apps are operated by Salim Meshref (“we”, “us”) as a sole operator based in Lebanon. By using the Apps you agree to this policy.

1. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to anyone who installs, registers in, or uses the Apps. This includes consumers booking ski lessons and instructors managing their availability and bookings.
The Apps are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn we have, we will delete it.
2. What we collect
2.1 Information you give us
When you create an account or use the Apps, you may provide:
- Phone number (used as a sign-in identifier via one-time SMS code)
- Email address (used as a sign-in identifier and for transactional messages)
- Display name (shown to other users where relevant)
- Role — whether you are using the Apps as a consumer or as an instructor
- Language preference — Arabic, French, or English
2.2 Information we collect automatically
- Device and connection information — basic technical metadata required for the App to communicate with our servers (IP address, app version, OS version). This is not used for advertising.
- Authentication tokens and session identifiers — stored on your device and on our authentication provider’s servers so you can stay signed in.
2.3 Information we plan to collect (future features)
The following data will be collected when the corresponding features are enabled in a future App version. We disclose this here so you are not surprised by future updates:
- Location data — when the resort-tracking and friend-finding features are enabled, the consumer App will request foreground (and, optionally, background) location permission to show your position on the resort map and to share it with friends you have explicitly added. Location data is only collected while you are actively using the feature and only at resorts in our supported list (currently Mzaar, Faraya, Cedars, Laklouk, Zaarour).
- Booking and lesson data — when the booking feature is enabled, the Apps will record your bookings, including resort, date/time, lesson type, instructor, and price.
- Payment information — when paid bookings are enabled, payment details will be processed by a third-party payment processor; we will not store your full card number on our servers.
When these features go live we will update this policy and prompt you for the relevant permissions in-app.
3. How we use what we collect
We use the information described above to:
- Create and authenticate your account
- Show you the parts of the App relevant to your role (consumer vs instructor)
- Display the App in your preferred language
- Communicate transactional messages (sign-in codes, booking confirmations once that feature is live)
- Diagnose crashes and fix bugs
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your data to show you advertising. We do not sell your data.
4. Who we share it with
We share the minimum data needed with the following service providers:
- Supabase (database, authentication, real-time messaging) — stores your account record, profile, and any data you create in the App. Data is hosted in Supabase’s data centers.
- Google Play / Apple App Store — distribute the Apps and process app installs. They receive standard install metadata governed by their own privacy policies.
- Firebase (Google) — used for app distribution to testers and (in future) crash reporting. Receives only the technical metadata needed to deliver builds and report crashes.
We do not share your data with any other third party except:
- Other users you have explicitly chosen to share with (e.g., friends you add to your tracking circle, instructors you book with)
- When required by law
We have no advertising partners and no analytics partners beyond what is listed above.
5. Where your data lives
Our servers and the third parties listed above process data outside Lebanon, including in Europe and the United States. By using the Apps you consent to this transfer.
6. How long we keep it
- Account data — kept while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile and any content you created within 30 days, except where we are legally required to keep records longer.
- Authentication logs — kept for up to 90 days for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
- Diagnostic logs — kept for up to 30 days.
7. Your rights
You can:
- Access the data we hold about you — email us and we will respond within 30 days
- Correct inaccurate data — most fields are editable in-app; for anything else, email us
- Delete your account and associated data — email us; we will confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days
- Withdraw consent for optional permissions (e.g., location) at any time via your device settings
There is no fee for these requests.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including TLS encryption in transit and encryption at rest on the database. No system is perfectly secure; we do our best and will notify you in the event of a breach affecting your data.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects how we handle your data, we will update the “Last updated” date above and notify you in-app or by email before the change takes effect.
10. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of Lebanon. Any dispute will be resolved in the competent courts of Beirut.
